Ready, set, go! - ICANN opens application window for new gTLD today
Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) finally opens the application period for its long-awaited new gTLD program.
Prospective new gTLD applicants have just less than three months from now on to submit their proposals to the organization for consideration.
Mark Your Calendars:
- 12 January 2012: Application period opens
- 29 March 2012: Last day to register for access to the TLD Application System (TAS)
- 12 April 2012: Application period closes

ICANN took the chance to send its key personality to our 2011 newdomains.org conference in Munich.
We were glad to have Chairman of the Board, Dr. Stephen Crocker and Senior Vice President and Head of the new gTLD program, Kurt Pritz with us on various Panels and speeches. ICANN's Press Manager, Brad White held an international press conference on the first conference day.
