The DotFam Association wishes to create a well-structured system for families in continuous development with the Internet environment. Additionally, the association focuses on providing an answer to the growing needs of families and integrating new technologies into their everyday lives. The priority for the association is to create a presence for families on the Internet. For that to happen, it is necessary to organize marketing campaigns and to obtain the support of all those institutions and organizations that represent the family worldwide.

Mission

The DotFam Association was created with the principal objective of consolidating the institutional side of the family on the Internet in two ways:

• To obtain the new top-level domain ".fam" with cooperation from ICANN
• To create a specific environment for families around the world, using new technologies, which would protect the nature and rights of these families

Vision

At the center of the family is the home. By distinguishing itself online as a resource for family-related topics, the DotFam hopes to use their proposed top-level domain as a starting point in the creation of Cyber Homes. According to the associations description, a Cyber Home will be a central meeting point containing information pertinent to a family. For instance, a wide of events affecting families such as education, family vacations, health issues as well as banking and shopping could all comprise information represented under a .fam domain. Perhaps a website could be created that classifies family-related events and assists in prioritizing these issues for the family unit.
