Domain Security Company will establish the .secure and .bank top-level domains. The company's goal is to make the Internet a safer and more secure place by employing a mix of technology and processes, some of which are industry standards for high security websites, and some of which have never been implemented before. Domain Security Company is a Wisconsin-based Limited Liability Corporation, and is currently seeking additional funding to prepare for the upcoming open application process, to be hosted by ICANN in 2011. Never before has such an exciting time existed in the domain space. For the first time, the domain name industry is about to experience a diversification in the availability of doman name endings.

Mission

One of the most important features about the .bank global top-level domain is that only a bank will be able to buy one. This will directly address one of the key security problems facing banking websites today: phishing, which is where a hacker "spoofs" a leading banking website and tries to trick consumers into unknowingly giving private information.

The staff at .bank will be working every day to ensure that domains are not compromised. This will include scanning the Internet on a regular basis to look for servers pretending to be falsely operating as a bank's website as well as looking for spoofed websites by using image recognition software to determine fictitious SSL certificates. Domain Security LLC will utilize a mix of technical innovation, process improvements, and enhanced requirements for all sites residing in the .bank top-level domain. Domain Security Company will release more information about its security measures prior to the launch of the .bank top-level domain.
