ICANN Targets to Reopen TAS on 22 May

Today ICANN announced that it is targeting 22 May 2012 to reopen TAS for five business days, closing on 30 May. Although ICANN finally releases a specific date this may still be subject to change as ICANN is only „targeting“ and „intending“ to reopen TAS. ICANN furthermore uncovered a new set of data in their packet-level research that may have an impact on the parties that were affected by the TAS glitch. How this may affect the reopening date is still unclear.

ICANN has not yet commented on the Reveal Day. In its FAQ ICANN said that the date will follow after the application system re-opening date has been announced. Since Reveal Day may be scheduled 2 weeks after closing TAS, mid May is an option. Considering that the ICANN meeting in Prague is from 24-29 June 2012, the Reveal Day may also coincide with the meeting. ICANN President and CEO Rod Beckstrom leaving the organization at the end of his term on 1 July 2012 further supports the latter date.
